A Minecraft Movie

Four misfits find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve.

Critics were sharply divided on A Minecraft Movie, with the central fault line running between those who thought Black and Momoa's infectious energy was enough to carry a thin, muddled story and those who dismissed the whole enterprise as a cynical brand exercise. The film played far better with younger audiences and families than with critics, and the gap between those two reactions is arguably the most telling thing about it.
