Scream 3

As bodies begin dropping around the Hollywood set of STAB 3, the third film based on the gruesome Woodsboro killings, Sidney and other survivors are once again terrorized by another Ghostface killer.

Mixed on arrival, Scream 3 was seen as a franchise running out of steam — its postmodern self-awareness feeling like a tired echo of earlier entries rather than a fresh escalation. Where some critics found it a wittily satisfying close to the trilogy, others felt the characters were too thin and the metafictional commentary a pale imitation of Craven's sharper work. The film has been substantially reappraised since, with later writers arguing its Hollywood abuse storylines read as a prescient, if underexplored, indictment of industry predation.
