When the nefarious Dark Helmet hatches a plan to snatch Princess Vespa and steal her planet's air, space-bum-for-hire Lone Starr and his clueless sidekick fly to the rescue. Along the way, they meet Yogurt, who puts Lone Starr wise to the power of "The Schwartz." Can he master it in time to save the day?

Spaceballs landed with a thud for many critics who felt the Star Wars parody had arrived years too late, when audience appetite for that kind of spoofery was already spent. Even those who enjoyed it tended to call it wildly uneven — a film with genuine visual gags scattered through stretches that simply don't land. Audiences have warmed to it more than critics ever did, and its cult reputation now sits well above its original reception.
