Chev Chelios, a hit man wanting to go straight, lets his latest target slip away. Then he awakes the next morning to a phone call that informs him he has been poisoned and has only an hour to live unless he keeps adrenaline coursing through his body while he searches for an antidote.

Crank landed in mixed-review territory, with critics split between those who found its relentless, anarchic energy a genuinely inventive spin on action filmmaking and those who felt its gleeful vulgarity was more exhausting than exhilarating. Notably, Lionsgate withheld the film from press screenings, so much of the critical record formed after theatrical release.
