DivisiveA film critics mostly found entertaining but hollow, Lethal Weapon 4 lands as a professionally assembled but exhausted franchise entry. Jet Li's menacing presence energizes the action sequences, yet the chemistry between Gibson and Glover that once felt genuine now reads as going through the motions. Critics were split less over quality than over how much that diminishment matters if the spectacle still delivers.

The series has lost a lot of steam since the first two entries, and, although the fourth movie ratchets up the energy level from the moribund state of the disappointing Lethal Weapon 3, there's no sense of spontaneity.”
