After failing to kill stubborn survivor Laurie and taking a bullet or six from former psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael Myers has followed Laurie to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where she's been admitted for Myers' attempt on her life. The institution proves to be particularly suited to serial killers, however, as Myers cuts, stabs and slashes his way through hospital staff to reach his favorite victim.
What critics thought
DivisiveHalloween II landed poorly with most critics on release, who felt its escalating body count was a betrayal of what made the original work rather than a continuation of it. A minority defended it by arguing the comparison was unfair — measured against the wave of slashers it spawned rather than its predecessor, it holds up better — and retrospective reassessment has been kinder, though the sibling-twist retcon remains a lasting point of contention even among the film's defenders.
