Twins

Julius and Vincent Benedict are the results of an experiment that would allow for the perfect child. Julius was planned and grows to athletic proportions. Vincent is an accident and is somewhat smaller in stature. Vincent is placed in an orphanage while Julius is taken to a south seas island and raised by philosophers. Vincent becomes the ultimate low life and is about to be killed by loan sharks.

Critics were split down the middle on Twins, with the premise itself doing most of the heavy lifting and the script struggling to sustain it. Audiences responded more warmly than reviewers, suggesting the film's broad, good-natured comedy plays better on its own terms than under scrutiny. The central pairing was itself a fault line: some found the odd-couple dynamic charming, while others felt the weight of the film fell almost entirely on DeVito.
