Jawan lands as a gleefully overstuffed masala spectacle that most critics were happy to ride — Shah Rukh Khan's outsized screen presence was nearly universally credited with holding the sprawling, Robin Hood-flavored plot together when the writing couldn't. The sharpest divide was between critics who found its populist political messaging ('vote, hold governments accountable') a genuine asset and those who felt the story simply never cohered, with at least one dismissing the whole enterprise as a chaotic mess despite Khan's efforts.
