What critics thought
Prey won over the overwhelming majority of critics as a stripped-down, patient thriller that earns its action through character work — Amber Midthunder's performance and the Comanche setting were almost universally praised. Where critics diverged was on the execution beneath the surface: most found the simplicity a strength, but a handful felt the direction and the Predator's depiction were flat, trading the franchise's kinetic menace for anonymous set pieces.
