Critics were sharply split on Tron: Legacy, agreeing almost universally that the visuals and Daft Punk score are its raison d'être, while dividing hard over whether the film beneath the spectacle — its characters, dialogue, and ideas — amounts to anything at all. Michael Sheen's flamboyant Castor was singled out as the one performer who seemed to be having fun, throwing the flatness of everyone around him into relief.
