What critics thought
X2 landed as a broadly well-received superhero sequel, with most critics crediting Bryan Singer for juggling a large ensemble while deepening the franchise's themes of prejudice and identity. The praise, however, was not universal — a vocal minority found the storyline underdeveloped, the action hollow, and the film's self-seriousness more pretentious than earned.
